Crappy Advice! A tip for Dog Lovers

Has your dog ever eaten it's poop?!

I caught Katie doing it the other day! Barf! We called her 'poopy eater' (In a sweet voice, we're not jerks, I swear!) for the whole rest of the day. BUT, I had actually heard on the radio that same morning that if your dog eats its stool it is probably because the dog food you are using is not good enough. Dogs will eat their poopy because they are not getting the nutrition they need. By switching to a high quality dog food this behavior will stop! It will eliminate bad breathe and stop the 'gag that is disgusting' factor for you as the owner! A real win win! Next time I go to the store we are upgrading, and I'm going to buy some of those 'clean your teeth' bones! I will let you know how it goes!

Just a little tip!

Scary Monsters

Last weekend Jared and I hung out with our awesome friends Jeff and Julie. We went to dinner and then watched a movie at their new house (Which was so pretty!). The movie we watched was called "A haunting in Connecticut". It was pretty scary, I will admit it!

After the movie we went home and started getting ready for bed. Jared was downstairs doing something and I was in the bathroom upstairs washing my face. Have you ever been in a jumpy, scared mood and it freaks you out to wash your face and then have to look in the mirror? What if you look up and see someone in there? Freaky! So I am washing my face and thinking about the scary movie when suddenly right behind me is this crazy snorting/growling noise! I jump so hard and whip around to see...Katie standing behind me wagging her tail!

You can usually hear her come upstairs because of her collar but she totally sneaked up on me! Katie makes all kinds of weird noises and we caller her our little raptor because it sounds like the noises raptors make on Jurassic park! She came up right behind me and made that noise and I was dang scared!

She was probably trying to pay me back for the times when I hear her coming upstairs and hide so I can jump out and scare her. I guess we are even now...or is this war?...

The Great Escape

Last week I took Katie over to play at Ellie's in the morning. At around 10:00 I get a call from Jared saying someone called and said the dogs were missing and not in the backyard. I was in a meeting in So. Ogden and it was just finishing so I said I would go try and find them.

When I turned onto the street in front of Megan and Cody's house there was Ellie just strolling down the road, wagging her tail. I rolled down the window and called her so she followed me back to the house. I got her back in the back yard and closed the gate. I then started to call for Katie. I couldn't see her anywhere! As I was calling for her, Ellie comes strolling around the front of the house! What! How did she get out again?! I took her back in the yard a second time and this time when to check the other side of the fence. Sure enough, the other gate was wide open and I found out later it had been left open from the night before! (I'm sure those two had a blast being free all morning. What is funny is Ellie was in the backyard when I brought Katie over. Cody said he thought Ellie was waiting for Katie before she left the backyard. He said she probably knew Katie was coming and trouble is much more fun to get into with your friends! So true!) So, after closing the gate my next task was to find Katie! She will usually stay with Ellie if they get out so I was getting nervous.

She wasn't anywhere around Ellie's house so I though maybe she had gone back to our house, which is scary because she would have had to cross a really busy road! I drove over there and parked outside and started calling her! I couldn't see or hear her and I was getting really worried! She could be anywhere! I start walking around to the front of our house and what do you think I saw? There was Katie eating a chicken bone on the grass in front of our house. Classic Katie. Breaking out for the day and just getting some lunch in the trash. I couldn't help but laugh!

After she busted out at Ellie's she came home to enjoy some nice chicken bones on the grass. I took her inside for the rest of the day and headed back to work. I'm sure she curled up on the couch to digest her chicken bones and dream about running free and rummaging through peoples trash. Yep, that's my dog!

Introducing...

Do Do Doo Do DOOOO! (Trumpet noise)

Introducing... Katie's blog!! This is a blog all about Katie! For those of you who follow my personal blog you know all about Katie! For those of you who don't...get ready!

I know this blog is about Katie but I think you need a little background about me:

I love dogs. I LOVE dogs! I have always loved dogs and I couldn't wait to have one of my own someday. I actually love all animals! I am a total animal person! I really should have been a vet! Maybe one day I will have my own doggie day care!
Because of an allergy in the family we had to give away our family dog when I was 16 and I seriously felt like I gave away my little brother. We couldn't have pets in the house because of the allergy problem but I still tried to have them. I brought a dog home from a shelter one day that I called Missy. I was hoping I could just keep her outside. No go. My parents made me take her back later that day.

Later, I bought a miniature Doberman Pincer when my parents were out of town. Needless to say this caused some problems. Her name was Priscilla and she was darling. (I will post a picture some time) I ended up going out of the country for a few months and the family that tended Priscilla decided they wanted to adopt her. I knew it was for the best so she stayed with them and loves them so much, which made it a lot easier.

Obviously you can see a pattern here. I really wanted a dog!

Katie's story:

After Jared and I were married for about 5 months we decided to get a dog. We talked about the kind of dog we wanted and looked online etc. We decided to visit Davis Animal shelter and see what they had there. I don't know if it is the same now, but the Davis Animal shelter policy at the time was: 1 week for the owners to come claim them if they were lost, and 2 weeks to be adopted or they are put down. As we walked along the isles of cages all the dogs were jumping and barking! All except one. She just sat there looking so sad, with the cutest puppy dog face you have ever seen. Jared said he thought she had a darling face and that we should take her for a walk. So we did and we fell in love! Kate was around 1 and 1/2 when we got her. She was a lost dog and no one came for her. She only had a few days left to be adopted when we saved her. She has been the best dog and companion and we love her like our own baby!

This blog is all about dogs and mostly about Katie! If you love animals you are in the right place! Welcome to the Tails of Katie!
